Beverly Hanyzewksi, MA, founder of Deaf Holistic
Yoga, is a registered Yoga Alliance teacher.
She began insight and meditation practice in the
early 1980's. In 2000, Beverly saw the need for
balance in her life and turned to the path of yoga,
setting up her practice four years later.

Beverly incorporates holistic perspectives and
approaches through classes, workshops for all
ages and has presented in schools, conferences
and events in Deaf communities. In the fall of
2008, Beverly facilitated the first holistic yoga
retreat for Deaf people in Maryland.

Beverly has a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood
Education from Gallaudet University and a master’s
in Deaf Education from New York University. For twelve years, she taught pre-K through elementary levels in schools for the deaf in Washington, D.C., Indiana and
Maryland. In 2008-2009, Beverly was a full-time adjunct
instructor in the Gallaudet University Deaf Education
department. She is interested in pursuing the integra-
tion of emotional intelligence and yoga as an essen-
tial asset in teacher preparation for schools nationwide.
